今回の例会は、前半インハウスコンテスト、間に休憩を挟み、後半通常例会を行いました。初めに会長からコンテスト参加者及びメンバーへ、「敗者の学び」の説得力ある、かつユーモラスなお話があり、ゲストの紹介後、ほどよい緊張感と和やかな空気の中コンテストが始まりました。コンテスト議長のTM R.S.より今日の会の流れの説明後、TM T.K.より「皆で審査員を体験しよう！」というタイトルで日本語コンテストワークショップが行われました。スピーチコンテストの審査方法（目的、種類、審査員資格、審査員としての注意点、審査基準、審査員倫理規定）を各自審査用紙を用い確認し合い審査員の体験をさせてもらいました。メンバー一同コンテストへの理解を一層深めることができ有意義な時間を持つことができたと思います。その後、日本語ワークショップ内コンテストへと移りました。参加者は２名です。

１．「ジーナの法則」（自由になれる法則）　TM T.A.
バレンタインチョコから３つの幸せを定義。①もらう幸せ　②与える幸せ　そして①、②のwin-win関係とは全く違う報酬を期待しない③奉仕の幸せ。TM T.Aが選んだ幸せの定義は③。因みに「自由になれる法則・ジーナの法則」はTM T.Aご本人があみだした法則。

２．「情けは人の為ならず」　TM T.O.
寛容さ、屈託のなさ、慈悲深さが文化に浸み込んだアメリカ人の国民性に助けられた、ご自身の体験の数々を紹介され、今一度「情けは人の為ならず」の精神を日本人は思い起こし行動に移すことが大切なのではないか、という貴重なメッセージをスピーチに託しました。

スピーチ終了後、TM R.S.よりTM T.A. とTM T.O.にそれぞれコンテスト参加証明書が渡されました。

Now let’s move on to the International Speech Contest.
First TM R.S, the Contest Chair, introduced the Chief Judge, the Timer, the Vote Counter and the SAA.
Then she explained the contest procedures and rules.
Chief Judge TM S.S. announced that it was time to begin the contest. Finally the contest started.
There were four speakers in the English Contest.

1. "My 6-year Old Mother" TM T.A.
TM T.A. expressed how her feelings about her mother changed through her life. Now she understood everything of her mother. Her heartwarming speech brought tears to some members' eyes.

2. "Outstanding Nationality" TM Y.I.
TM Y.I. was impressed by generosity of people in Holland and admires the rich economy there. We learned excellent national characteristics of Holland. His experiences suggested the Holland is the happiest country in the world.

3. "White Piano" TM K.T.
TM K.T. ran across a white piano on her journey to find herself in Karuizawa. After listening to her speech, we can imagine how much she was struggling to say "I want the white piano in my house!" This was her true mind. She has always put others first. Her husband's reaction was...?!

4. "A Queen of Queens" TM S.I.
TM S.I. shared some valuable information about Queen "Himiko" with us through a history book written by her old friend, who is a professor in Beijing University. Her speech had an interesting viewpoint comparing two other famous queens; "Cleopatra" and "Yang Guifei".

All four participants were given certificates of participation after their presentations and then they were interviewed by TM K.Im. She gave two questions, which were "Why did you choose the title of your speech?" and "What was the strongest point in your speech?" Each speaker answered in a relaxed mood as they were relieved from the tension of the contest.
After the interview the Winners of the Japanese Speech Contest were announced. TM T.O. was awarded the First Place Certificate and TM T.A. was awarded the Second Place Certificate. TM T.O. and TM T.A. proceeded to the Area 45 Speech Contest representing our club. Congratulations!
Next the Winners of the International Speech Contest were presented. TM K.T was awarded the First Place Certificate and TM T.A. was awarded the Second Place Certificate. TM K.T. and TM T.A. proceeded to the Area 45 Speech Contest representing our club. Congratulations!

5分の休憩を挟みいつもの例会に移りました。準備スピーチが１つのため賞の対象にはなりませんでした。
☆準備スピーチ　
「大好きな日本人メジャーリーガーの凄さについて」 TM T.O. 8'03"
（課題 CC#2:スピーチの構成）　                                                         
TM T.O.はイチロー選手の野球選手としての凄さだけではなく、彼の数々の名言を取りあげ、人間としての凄さを訴えかけました。走・攻・守そして心・技・体のパワーをバランスよく持ち得た、イチロー選手に感銘を受けるTM T.O.の熱い思いが伝わりました。

☆個人論評 TM Y.H. 3'22"
プロジェクトの課題（価値、準備、結び）に沿った構成でスピーチがなされていたと評価されました。通し番号・表使用の勧め、タイトルで聞き手が引きつく工夫など、絶妙なアドバイスがなされ、次回３回裏のTM T.O.のスピーチが期待されます。
